Radio Resource Management (RRM) Conformance Testing
Home > Products > LTE > RRM
Radio Resource Management (RRM) ensures the efficient use of the available radio resources and also provides mechanisms that enable E-UTRAN to meet radio resource related requirements. RRM performs the functions of dynamically allocating resources to UE in UL and DL, connection mobility control, radio bearer control and radio admission control.
The requirements that are tested in RRM Conformance include:
Idle mode, cell re-selection algorithms that are controlled by the setting of parameters (thresholds and hysteresis values) that define the best cell and/or determine when the UE should select a new cell
The configuration of the UE measurement and reporting procedures that are transmitted via dedicated signaling in connected mode
Connected mode, the mobility of radio connections that has to be supported
Handover decisions that may be based on UE or eNB measurements
Inter-RAT RRM, the management of radio resources in connection with Inter-RAT mobility, e.g. Inter-RAT handover
RRM Conformance suite offered as a part of LTE Q-GENERIC® Solution addresses this specific need. This solution uses Aeroflex 7100 DRTS which provides a powerful platform with network emulation of L1/L2/L3 uplink and downlink via RF or digital baseband. All protocol messages transmitted and received are interleaved with the TTCN trace to show exactly at what stage any problems occurred.
