Protocol is a formal set of procedures that are adopted to ensure communication between two or more functions within the same layer of a hierarchy of functions. Protocol Conformance verifies the LTE Uu radio interface of a User Equipment. The conformance test cases will be based on the conformance scripts (TTCN-3) developed by 3GPP RAN5 Working Group. Protocol conformance testing ensures that the UE correctly handles link control information and data flow control.
TTCN-3 (Testing and Test Control Notation version 3) is a strongly typed test scripting language used in conformance testing of communicating systems and a specification of test infrastructure interfaces that glue abstract test scripts with concrete communication environments. TTCN-3 has been developed by ETSI and its predecessor is TTCN-2. TTCN-3 scripts can be combined with ASN.1 type definitions. ASN.1 is natively supported by major TTCN-3 tool vendors.
Protocol Conformance suite offered as a part of LTE Q-GENERIC® Solution addresses this specific need. This solution uses Aeroflex 7100 DRTS which provides a powerful platform with network emulation of L1/L2/L3 uplink and downlink via RF or digital baseband. All protocol messages transmitted and received are combined with the TTCN trace to show exactly at what stage any problems occurred.
